Ford v Ferrari Track Day Experience – These Cars are Sexy

Ford v Ferrari

In anticipation of the release of Ford V Ferrari in cinemas on 22 November 2019, Shelby South Africa hosted a variety of industry leaders, including Tech IT Out, at a Ford V Ferrari track day at Zwartkops Raceway on Wednesday, 6 November 2019.

Those attending were treated to an adrenalin-packed morning of passenger rides in one of the four Shelby cars – the Cobra, Daytona, GT40 or Supersnake; GoKart racing; a full-motion simulator competition, a Le Mans replica Scalectrix track with cars from the Ford V Ferrari film and the opportunity to interview Peter Lindenberg of Shelby South Africa as well as Jimmy Price of Hi-Tech Automotive.  These were accompanied by a video interview with Aaron Shelby which was completed for South Africa by Shelby SA.

“A film this big and emotional along with heart-stopping car racing just lent itself to partnering with a brand like Shelby South Africa – a partner with a heritage and passion for innovation,” said Cameron Hogg, Content Executive for Empire Entertainment who is distributing the film in South Africa.

“As with all great films, we want to be moved, to cry, to laugh, to be inspired. This movie is all of that and more and gave us the opportunity to give local media a small taste of the world in which the film takes place.”

“Shelby South Africa is honoured to have partnered with 20th Century Fox and Empire Entertainment on the release of the Ford V Ferrari film in South Africa, the true story of the legend himself, Carroll Shelby.  Ford V Ferrari tells the Shelby story from Carroll’s early beginnings in the ‘60s, through to what was probably Shelby’s biggest international motorsport success, that set the stage for what became and still is a legendary high-performance brand. Today, we are displaying two Shelby approved legendary Shelby vehicles, the Slab Side Shelby Cobra, the car that features Carroll behind the wheel at the beginning of the movie as well as an exact recreation of Shelby’s favoured driver, Ken Miles’ GT40 MKII. Once you have enjoyed the movie, you will understand the pure excellence, innovation and strength of the Shelby brand and why its legacy will forever be a part of history and drive the demand for the Shelby name well into the future.” commented Peter Lindenberg

Next, Shelby South Africa will host the Ford V Ferrari premiere events in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town launching the Shelby Legendary cars brand in South Africa and giving South Africans the opportunity to buy these mechanical works of art with Legendary status in the car collector world. Unbeknown to most, is the fact that this entire range of cars, which are produced under license to Shelby American and get entered into the Shelby registry, are manufactured in Port Elizabeth by Jimmy Price’s Hi-Tech Automotive operation.
