The Best Samsung Gear S3 Apps To Download

Samsung Gear S3

Samsung’s Gear S3 Smartwatch, which was released in November 2016, has gone from strength to strength – especially with the device receiving some great new updates to its firmware from Samsung.

While the device has been on the market globally for some time now, it looks as though now is the perfect time to pick one up as retailers are implementing price drops. The price drop could be inline with the potential announcement of the Samsung Gear S4, which would mean that retailers would be looking at selling off old stock at a cheaper price point.

Dionwired has dropped the price of the Gear S3 Frontier from R5999 to R4499. Makro, while a bit pricier, has dropped the price of the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier down to R4899. Online retailer Takealot has dropped the price to R4989 while Raru is selling the Frontier for R5003. Finally, Loot.co.za has also come to the party with an R4815 price tag.

For a smartwatch released at the end of 2016, it’s a pretty impressive piece of tech and here’s why… The Gear S3 comes in two models: Classic and Frontier. The Classic has a silver watch case and black leather band, while the Frontier has a black watch case and rubber band. Both are rated IP68 (water resistant) and have GPS, as well as heart rate monitor sensors. One notable feature is that the bezel ring rotates as part of the user interface, although users can also navigate by swiping the screen and/or using the two buttons on the side.

To add to the features, you can also change the watch face to pretty much whatever style you want. The watch faces, which can be downloaded, come in various forms from Fallout 4’s Pipboy interface to classy minimalistic styles. You can even go as far as having the various Disney, DC, or Marvel watch faces as well… the choices are endless. To add to this, you can install a number of apps on the Gear S3 Smartwatch.

While some apps are useless, others are must haves… which is why we have listed below the best Samsung Gear S3 apps on the app store right now.

Find My Car
The Find My Car App is one of the most useful apps around.  When opening the app, you simply record the GPS location of your car. You can then head off to do your shopping, head to a concert, or even leave it at the airport and still not have to walk around parking garages for hours trying to remember where you parked your car.

UBER
You should pretty much know how UBER works by now. The Gear S3 version of the app does not cut corners. With the screen being big enough it allows you to drag the marker to your chosen pickup location with ease, while the rotating bezel lets you zoom in and out of the map as well as scroll through your choice of ride.

Spotify
Recently launched in South Africa, Spotify is a music streaming service that gives you access to a ton of music… From Less Than Jake to Ed Sheeran, Spotify has it all. To top things off, the Gear S3 is the only smartwatch with an official Spotify app that will allow you to enjoy music from your wrist through Wi-Fi or LTE.

Facer
As stated above, you can download just about any watch face for your Samsung Gear S3; however, to make things easier, there is an app for it. By using Facer, you can choose from over 15,000 different watch faces specially designed for the Gear S3 or you can have a go at creating your own through the Facer Creator portal. It’s an awesome app to have, especially if you want to change your watch face frequently.

White Light
White Light is a pretty simple app, which allows you to use your Samsung Gear S3 as a torch by turning the display white and upping the brightness to maximum.

While these are our top apps to use in conjunction with the Samsung Gear S3 you can also get your hands on the likes of Fruit Ninja, Camera Gear, Here WeGo, Glympse, and many more top rated apps. So with the price dropping on the Samsung Gear S3, now is the perfect time to pick one up.
