We Happy Few heading to Australia

We Happy Few

According to a blog post by Compulsion Games, the pill-popping frenzy that is We Happy Few is headed down under. As stated by the developer, the Australian Classification Review Board has decided to allow the release of We Happy Few in Australia.

In the past, the Australian Classification Review Board has been notorious for banning and restricting games that feature adult content.

As revealed by the developer in the post: “We went to a great deal of effort to get this decision overturned. We Happy Few will be rated R18+ in Australia. We are extremely pleased with the decision of the board and excited that our Australian fans and new players will be able to experience We Happy Few without modification. We want to thank everybody who got involved in the discussion, contacted the board and sent us countless messages of support.  Your involvement made a huge difference.”

We Happy Few is the tale of a plucky bunch of moderately terrible people trying to escape from a lifetime of cheerful denial in the city of Wellington Wells. In this alternative 1960s England, conformity is key. You’ll have to fight or blend in with the drug-addled inhabitants, most of whom don’t take kindly to people who won’t abide by their not-so-normal rules.

Discover the retro-futuristic city’s dark history as you play through the intertwined narratives of three quietly rebellious citizens of Wellington Wells, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, as they face their pasts, prepare for the future, and engage in activities that aren’t exactly status quo in the artificially enthused society.

We Happy Few comes to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on August 10th.
